Today, the Republican party supports the Patriot Act, which increases law enforcement agencies ability to search into telephone records, e-mails, as well as medical and financial records, in order to track terrorist activity. They believe that this is essential to keeping the United States safe and secure. Republican politics support the “Don’t ask, Don’t tell’ act, in which openly gay, lesbian or bisexual individuals can not serve in the military. They believe that homosexuals have no place in the military. The Republican Party believes that there should be a Constitutional Amendment that bans same-sex marriage, and believes only in the traditional meaning of marriage, which takes place between a man and a woman. in 2000 the Republican Party showed their support on the notion that the Boy Scouts should be able to ban gay leaders based on their right to exercise freedom of speech. Republican politics promotes abstinence, and if necessary adoption, but is always against abortion. They believe that human life begins at the moment of conception and therefore abortion is murder. The Republican Party argues for a Constitutional amendment that would ban abortion. Republican politics promotes the need to increase rights of individuals who fall victim to crime and create harsher punishment for individuals who commit crimes. The Republican Party supports the death penalty and believes that the death penalty should be used as punishment for the leaders of drug rings. Republican politics seeks to instate drug testing in schools as a way to deter kids from experimenting with drugs. Republican politics promote market friendly solutions to environmental problems. The Republican Party does not believe that the government should institute extreme environmental policies because these legislations cut jobs and hurt the economy. Republican politics maintain that climate change has occurred throughout history. There is no scientific proof that the human species had anything to do with the environmental problems that we are currently facing, nor is there any proof that anything we do can help the environment. The Republican party supports student initiated prayers in schools and encourages the continued use of the pledge of allegiance and the education of the ten commandments. Republican politics deems that any nation that provides support or shelter to terrorists or terrorist groups are just as guilt as the terrorists themselves. The Republican Party believes that Iraq is becoming an example of reform and that it can provide other non-democratic states with a positive view on democracy. Republican politics promotes democracy throughout Asia. They believe that democracies are less likely to fight with one another. This is based on the realism theory of international relations. The Republican party seeks to create new strategies to assist underdeveloped nations and believes that the best way to control the spread of AIDS is to remain abstinent and to remain faithful to your partner. Republican politics is against stem cell research and cloning. Republicans believe in health care privatization. They also seek to reform the immigration system and base immigration on skills an individuals possess. They want to tighten borders as to not allow illegal immigrants into the country. Republicans do not support amnesty for illegal immigrants and believe that such programs will not deter illegal immigrants. Republicans also support tax cuts in order to jump start the economy and assist families that are struggling in the current economic crisis.
