Liberal Politics

When you are discussing politics it is very important that you are familiar with the terms liberal and conservative, as they are used very often. Conservatives are generally people who support traditional American values, and believe that all policy should be based of Christian morals. Liberals, on the other hand, have a much more modern view on politics and believe that policy needs to change and progress in order to improve. Liberal politics are generally associated with the Democratic Party. Since people are generally only classified as republicans or as democrats there can be a huge variation within each party. Within the Democratic party people can vary from being a liberal democrat to being a conservative democrat, or they can remain in the middle and not venture too far to one side or to the other. In general, liberal politics places a great deal of importance in issues such as civil rights and individual freedom. A liberal view on politics recognizes human rights as essential and something that needs to be preserved. It also places emphasis on individual freedom and the protection of the rights and liberties that were outlined in the Bill of Rights and the American Constitution.

A liberal democrat is someone who has beliefs that are very far left, or very liberal. For instance, a liberal democrat will most likely be in support of same sex marriage. They will also support a woman’s right to choose to terminate a pregnancy if she wishes and will vote against a Constitutional amendment to ban abortion. A liberal democrat will emphasize the importance of investing in alternative sources of energy so that the United State’s can become independent of other nations. A liberal democrat will most likely view the 2003 invasion of Iraq as President Bush’s means of securing access to oil in another country. To prevent a situation like this from ever occurring again it is important to develop new sources of energy, such as wind power or solar power energy. Otherwise we will always be competing for access to oil and paying the price for it at the pump. Liberal politics supports health care reforms to ensure that all Americans have access to decent and affordable health care. Liberal politics identifies the primary responsibility of the government as providing protection and safety to all of it’s citizens. This not only includes protecting them from hostile nations, but also includes protecting them from threats within the country, such as violence that may be bought about by gangs or the influx of drugs into an area. On some occasions liberal politics will favor going to war in order to bring rights, liberties and freedom to suppressed people throughout the world. Liberals believe that these are fundamental rights that every person should have the opportunity to experience, and many believe that it is their duty to bring these rights to people who do not yet have them. Liberal politics also supports furthering science and technology and argues that federal funding should be provided to further stem cell research, as this will reduce suffering and increase survival rates.

Political news and political reports are essential resources for the spread of political ideas, as well as the progress of political campaigns and information about the individuals taking part in those campaigns. Political reports are non-partisan, unbiased newsletters that are dedicated to analyzing the progress of political campaigns and elections. They provide the public with information on how these political races are progressing. There are many political reports that are available in a variety of different formats. The Cook Political Report reviews campaigns and elections including races between governors, as well as the House of Representatives, and that Senate. It provides this information for every state. The Rothenburg Political Report is one of the political reports that is formulated as a blog that analyzes United States politics and elections. The Independent Report is one of the few political reports created as a place in which third party news can be reported and third party candidates can have their views recognized. This is important because there are not many resources available dedicated solely to the outlet of third party politics. Political reports are important because they provide the public with a place to gain unbiased information about candidates and their ideas and progress.

The discussion of political news takes up a great portion of television news broadcasts and television talk shows. It also is the focus of many newspaper journalists and online websites. With the increase in technology and the popularity of the internet, political news can be broadcast into people’s homes at anytime of the day. National Public Radio is a radio station that is dedicated entirely to the discussion of political news. Political news includes the discussion of current political and economic issues, the progress of campaigns and elections, information about the views of party candidates and any scandals that may occur that is related to politics in some way. Political news often has the power to change a candidate’s political agenda either by criticizing them for their stance on critical issues, or by offering them support and approval for their ideas. These news sources allow essential facts and information to be readily available to all people. It gives the public the ability to get the facts and make knowledgeable decisions about political candidates and their views. Despite the ease in which the public can receive political news, it is important that they are careful not to rely solely on information presented from one news source, as many new sources are known to be biased and favor one side or the other, such as alternative news sources which tend to support the liberal views. Political news often has the ability to call the public to action or ignite the feeling that action must be taken. One recent example of this occurred after the attacks on September 11. The terrible images of the burning twin towers was broadcast into homes all over the country through the television and the radio. These images and the discussions and debates that took place on political news stations surrounding the attacks united the American population with the cause to preserve freedom and justice and persuaded them to act.

Political Views

Within a government there are always individuals who oppose each other and who are fighting for control or for a position of power. Usually these divides exist because of differences in political views. Within the United States government there are two popular political parties that dominate the political system. They are the Republican Party and the Democratic Party, and each of these parties has a different political agenda composed of different beliefs, and a different political view on each of the varying issues. A person’s political view can not be determined by the party that they align themselves with, however there are trends that exist, and generally a person who identifies with a political party shares the opinions that the majority of the party holds on the issues. The political view of republicans tends to be more conservative, while the political view of democrats is usually more liberal.

The political stance that republicans usually take on abortion is pro-life. They believe that a child is alive from the moment of conception and therefore should be protected by the same rights that all citizens of the United States are protected by. Because of this republicans do not support a woman’s right to choose to terminate a fetus. On the other hand, democrats believe that choice is an essential freedom and they support and defend a woman’s right to choose abortion should she find it necessary. On health care, democrats take the political stance that all American citizens should have access to an affordable and decent health care system. This may include implementing a universal health care system. Republicans disagree, arguing that if health care is run by the government then all individuals will receive inadequate care. People who can afford to pay for health care will pay for it and the people who can not afford it will deal with poor care, if they receive any at all. Health care should remain privatized. The political stance of democrats on the environment is that the environment is in a current state of crisis and that climate change should be made a national priority. It is essential that the United States invest in alternative forms of energy so that they can become independent of other nations. Republicans usually maintain that the climate has gone through drastic changes throughout history, and that the human species has not affected it. They also argue that there has been no scientific proof offered that shows that anything that we do will help to improve the condition of the environment. By creating extreme environmental policies we are simply cutting jobs and hurting the economy. The political stance of the republicans on the “Don’t ask, Don’t Tell” policy, which prohibits openly gay and lesbian individuals from enlisting in the army, is that homosexuals have no place in the military. Democrats, on the other hand, oppose this policy and believe that it should be abolished. On gun control republicans take the political stance that all American citizens have the right to defend themselves. The second amendment of the United States Constitution states that all American citizens have the right to keep and bear arms. Therefore, all American citizens have the right to own a gun. Democrats stress the point that guns kill people and that they are often the cause of many accidental deaths, including the deaths of children. Democrats and republicans have drastically different opinions when it comes to important issues, and they will probably continue to disagree throughout the rest of political history.
