When you are discussing politics it is very important that you are familiar with the terms liberal and conservative, as they are used very often. Conservatives are generally people who support traditional American values, and believe that all policy should be based of Christian morals. Liberals, on the other hand, have a much more modern view on politics and believe that policy needs to change and progress in order to improve. Liberal politics are generally associated with the Democratic Party. Since people are generally only classified as republicans or as democrats there can be a huge variation within each party. Within the Democratic party people can vary from being a liberal democrat to being a conservative democrat, or they can remain in the middle and not venture too far to one side or to the other. In general, liberal politics places a great deal of importance in issues such as civil rights and individual freedom. A liberal view on politics recognizes human rights as essential and something that needs to be preserved. It also places emphasis on individual freedom and the protection of the rights and liberties that were outlined in the Bill of Rights and the American Constitution.

A liberal democrat is someone who has beliefs that are very far left, or very liberal. For instance, a liberal democrat will most likely be in support of same sex marriage. They will also support a woman’s right to choose to terminate a pregnancy if she wishes and will vote against a Constitutional amendment to ban abortion. A liberal democrat will emphasize the importance of investing in alternative sources of energy so that the United State’s can become independent of other nations. A liberal democrat will most likely view the 2003 invasion of Iraq as President Bush’s means of securing access to oil in another country. To prevent a situation like this from ever occurring again it is important to develop new sources of energy, such as wind power or solar power energy. Otherwise we will always be competing for access to oil and paying the price for it at the pump. Liberal politics supports health care reforms to ensure that all Americans have access to decent and affordable health care. Liberal politics identifies the primary responsibility of the government as providing protection and safety to all of it’s citizens. This not only includes protecting them from hostile nations, but also includes protecting them from threats within the country, such as violence that may be bought about by gangs or the influx of drugs into an area. On some occasions liberal politics will favor going to war in order to bring rights, liberties and freedom to suppressed people throughout the world. Liberals believe that these are fundamental rights that every person should have the opportunity to experience, and many believe that it is their duty to bring these rights to people who do not yet have them. Liberal politics also supports furthering science and technology and argues that federal funding should be provided to further stem cell research, as this will reduce suffering and increase survival rates.

The political system of the United States is comprised of two primary parties that compete for power and for political positions of influence. These parties are the Democratic Party and the Republican Party. Throughout history the Democratic Party has been one of the most long lived and successful political parties. Today, the Democrat party continues to grow in popularity, and has overtaken the Republican Party for the most registered voters, with 72 million democratic voters registered in 2004. The Democratic Party was founded by Thomas Jefferson in 1792 as a means to fight for the Bill of Rights and thwart the Federalist Party. It is based on the fundamental belief that someone’s economic status or social background should not automatically grant them a position of rule. A government should be based on characteristics that everyone possesses, such as compassion and intelligence. The Democrat Party has promoted progressive politics throughout history.

The Democratic Party usually has a more liberal view on the issues at hand then the Republican Party does. Today the Democrat Party tries to protect the United States from internal and external threats and well as provide every American with opportunities that will allow them to succeed and prosper. The Democratic Party usually has a political agenda that emphasizes civil rights and equal opportunity for all individuals. They seek to reform the health care system so that all American’s have access to decent and affordable health care. They also support gay and lesbian rights, though the question of gay marriage often varies between individuals. Democratic President Barack Obama has stated his opposition to the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” act, which prohibits gay, lesbian or bisexual individuals from enlisting in the army. He has also confirmed his intentions to abolish the policy. The Democrat Party believes that there should be no federal ban on same sex marriage. They are also extremely opposed to any form of racial or religious profiling. All individuals are equal under the law and police and law enforcement authorities should not tolerate discrimination of any individual. Today, the Democratic Party has put a strong emphasis on environmental protection and believes that climate change should be made a national priority. The United States needs to invest in alternative energy sources, otherwise we will always be dependent on other nations for access to oil. The Democrat Party wants to get rid of public debt by 2012 and in the next four years they want to cut the national debt in half.

Today the Democrat Party has control over the Congress, as well as has a democratic president in office. After running against Senator John McCain in the 2008 presidential election, Senator Barack Obama was elected the first African American president in the history of the United States. The Democrat Party and the beliefs and views of democrat continue to gain popularity in the United State. Hundreds of celebrities and famous individuals show their support for the Democratic Party. Some of these celebrities include Brad Pitt, Cameron Diaz, Demi Moore, Ellen DeGeneres, George Clooney and Harrison Ford, just to name a few.

When entering in an election and forming a campaign it is very important that a candidate receive a great deal of support from many sources. When a democratic candidate is running for office the majority of this support comes from the Democratic National Committee. The Democratic National Committee is responsible for promoting party candidates in elections, providing financial support, as well as technical support for party members running for office, assisting with campaign strategies, and planning nominating conventions. They also work with state and national organizations and office holders in order to assist democratic voters in obtaining their needs and wishes. The Democratic National Committee promotes the ideas and beliefs of the Democratic Party, including health care reform in order to provide all American citizens with adequate and affordable health care. They also advance the desire for investment in alternative energy sources and the end of discrimination based on race, religion, ethnicity, sex and sexual orientation. The Democratic National Committee provides individuals with daily news updates as, as well as e-mail updates, policy analysis, information on the democratic platform, as well as ideas on how to participate in elections and upcoming political events. The Democratic National Committee offers many internships to students who wish learn more about the democratic party and become involved in an exciting political environment. The internship program usually takes place over the summer and provides individuals with the opportunity to gain hands on experience, better understand the political process, as well as create lasting and invaluable contacts. Many of these interns will have the opportunity to work during the Democratic National Convention. The Democratic National Committee also provides individuals with the opportunity to volunteer at the Convention.

The Democratic National Convention is a series of nominating conventions in which the Democratic Party seeks to select a nominee to run during the presidential elections. They also discuss and create the party platform, which consists of the Democratic Party’s ideas, values, goals and beliefs. Representatives from all fifty states, as well as representatives from American territories, attend the Democratic National Convention. They all cast their votes for which candidate they want to see selected to run for president, as well as for vice president in the general election. The Democratic National Convention has been held every four years by the Democratic Party of the United States since 1832. The Democratic National Convention is the end of the primary election in which members of the same party vie for a spot in the presidential election, and the start of the general election. The 2008 Democratic National Convention was one of the most exciting in history. It was the first time that a woman and an African American were competing for a spot in the presidential election. Senator Barack Obama received 3,188.5 votes, while Senator Hillary Clinton only received 1,010.5 votes, making Senator Obama the democratic nominee for the 2008 presidential election. He later went on to win the 2008 general election and became the first African American president in the history of the United States.

The term democratic politics can be used to refer to two different political bodies. Democratic politics can be related to the regulation of a democracy, as well as the method by which policy is created and carried out. It can also be used to discuss the politics of the Democratic Party, one of the two primary political parties in the United States. A Democracy is a government that believes in ‘majority rule’ and ‘rule by the people.’ The democracy that is found in the United States today was formulated based on the Democratic model of the ancient Athenians. Around 500 B.C. the ancient Athenians created and executed the world’s first true democracy. They developed a system of voting in which all Athenian citizens could voice their opinion about a specific policy or individual candidate. Ancient Athenian citizen’s were comprised of adult males who completed their military training. They would gather at an assembly and would be given a white stone and a black stone. The white stone represented ‘yes’, while the black stone stood for ‘no’. The Athenian citizens would cast a stone into a clay pot to express approval or disapproval for the policy or individual being discussed. Like that of Athenian’s democratic politics, the voting system in a current democracy seeks to incorporate the voice of every citizen. Democratic politics attempt to ensure that a government is determined by the people, and that the majority remains satisfied and content. As populations increase direct democracy is no longer a feasible option, so instead the people choose representatives to carry out their wishes through organized elections. Democratic politics also seek to protect individual’s rights and liberties as outlined in the American Constitution. These liberties include the right to freedom of speech, freedom of press, freedom of religion, and freedom of assembly.

There are two primary political parties that are present in the United States government. They are the Republican Party and the Democratic Party. Their views and opinions on the important issues differ a great deal. The Republican Party tends to have more conservative views, while the Democratic Party is usually more liberal. Democratic views usually include a woman’s right to choose, as well as an improved health care system that is decent and affordable for all American’s. Democrats believe that the freedom of choice is essential and that a woman should have the right to choose to terminate a pregnancy if she believes that it is in her best interest. Democrats also offer support for gay and lesbian rights, though same sex marriage is always an issue that varies from person to person. Other Democratic ideas include investing in alternative energy sources and providing federal funding for stem cell research. Many democrats believe that the development of alternative energy is the only thing that is going to help up to become independent of other nations. Without alternative energy sources the United States will always be trying to gain access to oil in other countries. Liberal democrats also believe that embryonic stem cell research is necessary in order to decrease suffering and increase survival rates.

The two primary types of politics that have flourished in the United States are the politics of the Democratic Party and the politics of the Republican Party. Democrats tend to be much more liberal than republicans. They promote legislation that supports civil right. Democrats believe that choice is a fundamental right and therefore support a woman’s right to choose. They also oppose of any type of discrimination and seek to eliminate discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender and sexual orientation. Democrats currently control the White House, as well as Congress. There have been many notable and famous democrats that have left their mark on American history.

The well known democrat Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected the 32nd President of the United States. He helped to lead the United States through the second World War, as well as a world wide economic crisis. He served as president during the Great Depression and created the New Deal in order to address the economic issues at hand. He introduced legislation that created new government agencies that opened up job opportunities for unemployed individuals. These legislations allowed many individuals to find work, as well as assisted culture and society to flourish. For example, this new legislation allowed documentary photographers to be employed traveling around American and photographing how people in America were living. This began the development and popularity of documentary photography in the United States. Franklin D. Roosevelt was the only president who was elected to serve more than two terms. He was elected to office for four terms and died in the middle of his fourth term. The democrat Woodrow Wilson was elected as the 28th President of the United States. He passed a variety of legislations including the Federal Farm Loan Act, the Federal Trade Commission Act, and the Federal Reserve Act. He also persuaded Congress to pass the Revenue Act which established America’s first federal income tax. Democrat Bill Clinton was the 42nd United States President elected to office. His term in office marked the longest period of peace-time in the history of the United States. During his presidency there was a federal surplus of $236 Billion dollars. He was impeached due to obstruction of justice, but when he left office he had a 66% approval rating, which is the highest of any president since World War II. His wife, democrat Hillary Clinton, became the first female to run for a spot in a presidential election, however she lost in the primary election to Senator Barack Obama. Democrat Barack Obama was elected as the 44th President of the United States in the 2008 presidential election. He became the first African American to be elected to office. The Norwegian Nobel Committee awarded President Obama with the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize. During his presidency he seeks to reform health care so that all American citizens have access to decent and affordable health care. He also wants to invest in alternative energy sources, provide federal funding to embryonic stem cell research and end the war in Iraq. Notable celebrity democrats include Ashley Judd, Bruce Springsteen, Chris Rock, Helen Hunt and Nicole Kidman, just to name a few.

Since the founding of the Republican party, the beliefs, views and ideas held by republicans have changed a great deal. Today, the Republican party supports the Patriot Act, which increases law enforcement agencies ability to search into telephone records, e-mails, as well as medical and financial records, in order to track terrorist activity. They believe that this is essential to keeping the United States safe and secure. Republican politics support the “Don’t ask, Don’t tell’ act, in which openly gay, lesbian or bisexual individuals can not serve in the military. They believe that homosexuals have no place in the military. The Republican Party believes that there should be a Constitutional Amendment that bans same-sex marriage, and believes only in the traditional meaning of marriage, which takes place between a man and a woman. in 2000 the Republican Party showed their support on the notion that the Boy Scouts should be able to ban gay leaders based on their right to exercise freedom of speech. Republican politics promotes abstinence, and if necessary adoption, but is always against abortion. They believe that human life begins at the moment of conception and therefore abortion is murder. The Republican Party argues for a Constitutional amendment that would ban abortion. Republican politics promotes the need to increase rights of individuals who fall victim to crime and create harsher punishment for individuals who commit crimes. The Republican Party supports the death penalty and believes that the death penalty should be used as punishment for the leaders of drug rings. Republican politics seeks to instate drug testing in schools as a way to deter kids from experimenting with drugs. Republican politics promote market friendly solutions to environmental problems. The Republican Party does not believe that the government should institute extreme environmental policies because these legislations cut jobs and hurt the economy. Republican politics maintain that climate change has occurred throughout history. There is no scientific proof that the human species had anything to do with the environmental problems that we are currently facing, nor is there any proof that anything we do can help the environment. The Republican party supports student initiated prayers in schools and encourages the continued use of the pledge of allegiance and the education of the ten commandments. Republican politics deems that any nation that provides support or shelter to terrorists or terrorist groups are just as guilt as the terrorists themselves. The Republican Party believes that Iraq is becoming an example of reform and that it can provide other non-democratic states with a positive view on democracy. Republican politics promotes democracy throughout Asia. They believe that democracies are less likely to fight with one another. This is based on the realism theory of international relations. The Republican party seeks to create new strategies to assist underdeveloped nations and believes that the best way to control the spread of AIDS is to remain abstinent and to remain faithful to your partner. Republican politics is against stem cell research and cloning. Republicans believe in health care privatization. They also seek to reform the immigration system and base immigration on skills an individuals possess. They want to tighten borders as to not allow illegal immigrants into the country. Republicans do not support amnesty for illegal immigrants and believe that such programs will not deter illegal immigrants. Republicans also support tax cuts in order to jump start the economy and assist families that are struggling in the current economic crisis.

The Republican National Committee is responsible for creating and advancing the political agenda and platform of the Republican Party of the United States. The Republican National Committee is also required to put together fundraising efforts in order to finance Republican campaigns. The Republican National Committee promotes republican beliefs such as strength through defense, as well as the power and opportunity provided by America’s free market economy. It promotes the conservative ideals of the Republican Party, such as advocating legislation that would ban abortion and embryonic stem cell research. The support the privatization of health care and argue that government run health care will provide all individuals with inadequate health care. Instead, people who can afford to pay for health care should pay for it, and people who can not should receive government funded health care. The Republican National Committee seeks to protect the liberties that are laid out in the American Constitution, such as an individual’s right to free speech, or the right to keep and bear arms. The Republican National Committee believes that American’s are lucky to live in the United State’s, where they are protected by a unique set of rights and liberties that are not found in many countries around the world. They believe that free markets help to keep people free and they support business regulations that will encourage people to begin their own businesses. The Republican National Committee argues that a strong military is necessary to defend our democracy, but that it is also necessary to promote human rights, freedom and peace throughout the world. Michael Steele was elected the chairman of the Republican National Committee on January 30, 2009 and will serve until January 2011. The Republican National Committee offers a wide range of internships for undergraduate students. They encourage any undergraduate student that has an interest in politics or the political process to think about applying for an internship position. Here students will gain invaluable hands on experience and create lasting contacts that will be useful for the rest of their lives. There are internships available within each of the divisions of the Republican National Committee. A Republican Committee will also offer many volunteer positions as volunteers are essential to fundraising and organizing campaigns.

Every state has a Republican Committee. A Republican Committee is granted the power by law to select the members of the National Committee from their given state. They are also the state’s authority on coordinating Republican activities and increasing the impact of the Republican Party throughout the state. A state Republican Committee often carries out fundraisers and collects donation in order to finance Republican campaigns. The National Republican Senatorial Committee is a Republican committee that was founded in 1916 and is dedicated to electing Republican to the United States Senate. They provide support to any possible or current Republican United States Senate candidate by assisting in fundraising, budget planning, campaign strategy and any research that they need. Their goal is to overpower democrats in the United States Senate. They existence of Republican committees, like that of Democratic committees, relies heavily on donations from individuals and organizations.

Republican beliefs refer to the views and opinions that govern the politics of the Republican party. The views of the Republican party are usually much more conservative than the views of the Democratic party. Republican beliefs tend to be based on Christian values and the existence of God. Republicans believe that all policy should be created and formulated around Christian morals. Many republican beliefs are created based on the argument that the American Constitution does not state anywhere that the church and state should remain separated. Therefore they support student initiated prayer and maintaining the use of the pledge of allegiance on a daily basis in schools. Republican beliefs focus on traditional American principles and aim to uphold consistency and stability. Republican beliefs are against same sex marriage. Republicans believe that marriage is a holy union and should only occur between one man and one woman. They are also against gay, lesbian and bisexual individuals serving in the military. Republican beliefs argue for a smaller federal government and more power returned to the state government. They also believe in the power of a free market economy and argue that a strong national defense is essential to the prosperity and survival of their country.

Republican views on abortion almost always land on the side of Pro-life. They believe that life begins at the moment of conception and that by destroying a fetus you are killing a human being. Abortion is murder. Republicans continuously support the idea of creating an amendment in the Constitution that would ban abortion. Republican views on the environment differ a great deal from that of democrats. Republicans would like to have a healthy environment, complete with clean air and less pollution. However, to date there has been no scientific proof that humans have had any affect on the environment nor that they can do anything to positively change the environment. Environmental changes and climatic changes have taken place throughout history and they will continue to do so. Environmental policies lead to job cuts and damage the economy. Republican views on gun control cite the Second Amendment of the American Constitution as the basis for the approval of gun ownership. The Second Amendment gives every individual the right to keep and bear arms, or to own a gun. You have the right to keep a gun as protection against criminals. Republican views on immigration are fervid and resolute. Republicans are absolutely opposed to illegal immigration and oppose amnesty programs for illegal immigrants. Immigration laws should be enforced and those who enter the country illegally should not be granted rights. On the issue of health care republican views are completely opposite. While democrats support health care reform in order to provide all American citizens with access to affordable and decent health care, republicans believe that privatized health care should remain in tact. People who can not afford to pay for health care will continue to receive free, low-quality health care while everyone who can afford it will pay for better health care. Otherwise all American citizens will be subject to inadequate care. Republicans believe that the institution of policies that support these beliefs is the only way to ensure that the country will prosper.

The Democratic and the Republican party are the two most popular political parties in the United States. The majority of presidents elected to office have been either democratic or republican, and these two parties dominate congress. The Republican party was founded in 1854, in Ripon Wisconsin, out of a faction called the conscience Whigs. These were individuals who were morally opposed to slavery. The leaders of the conscience Whigs proceeded to play an important role in forming the Republican party after many members of the faction returned to the Whig party. The Republican party has experienced a great deal of success since its foundation. Candidates from the Republican party of been elected to presidency many times. There have been eighteen presidents from the republican party, meaning that the Republican party has the most presidents elected to office. They have held the office for eighty four years. The first women who served in the House of Representatives was Jeanette Rankin of the Republican Party. Many republicans have provided invaluable contribution to American history, politics and culture.

Republican parties exist in every state throughout the United States. In the beginning of their history Republicans were viewed as progressive. Republican parties have supported women’s suffrage and argued for a woman’s right to vote. Susan B. Anthony was a republican who traveled throughout the United States and Europe making speeches and promoting women’s suffrage. Republicans were known to argue for the rights of blacks in the United States. It was republican parties who first proposed the Fourteenth amendment of the United States Constitution, which was designed to protect the freedom and civil rights of recently freed slaves. The Republican Parties continually emphasize the importance of individual freedom and responsibility. Historically, Republican parties have supported freedom of speech that has been promised to American Citizens in the Bill of Rights. Republican parties have, and continue to support smaller federal governments, decreasing the power that is held by the federal government and returning power to the state government. As time has progressed republicans have become less progressive and have adopted more conservative political views. Today they base their political views and policies on Christian values. They oppose a woman’s right to choose abortion, arguing that human life begins at the moment of conception. Therefore abortion is murder. They are also against same sex marriage and believe that gay, lesbian and bisexual individuals have no place serving in the military. They believe that the earth has experienced climate change throughout history and will continue to experience climate change. There is no proof that humans have had any impact on the environment and there is no proof that humans can do anything to improve the current condition or the environment. Therefore, it does not make sense to create extreme political reforms that will destroy jobs and ruin the economy. Republicans are against illegal immigration and refuse to support amnesty programs, as they would not deter illegal immigrants. The Republican party has experienced a great deal of change and evolution from it’s early progressive days to it’s current use of conservative politics.

The Republican Party is one of the two most popular political parties in the United States, competing only with the Democratic Party. Republicans support the use of conservative politics, in which they argue that all policies should be based on Christian values and ideals. Republicans argue against progressive politics that would allow woman to terminate fetuses, allow same sex marriage and provide federal funding for embryonic stem cell research. The Republican Party was founded in 1854 by a group of individuals who opposed slavery. Since the 2008 presidential election democrats have gained control of the White House as well as of congress. However, republicans are still notably influential in politics and policy making throughout the country. Likewise, republicans have played an extremely important part in politics throughout history, and many brilliant republicans have left their mark on history.

Abraham Lincoln was a republican who served as the sixteenth president of the United States. He was the first republican president. He assisted in leading the American people through one of the greatest domestic conflicts in the history of the country, the American Civil War. Lincoln successfully preserved the Union and introduced policies to abolish slavery. He circulated the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863 and endorsed the thirteenth amendment of the United States Constitution. On April 15, 1865 he became the first president to be assassinated. Another notable republican is Clara Barton, who was a teacher and a nurse. She began her humanitarian efforts during the American Civil War when she created a program in order to collect supplies and redistribute them to soldiers who were wounded in the war. She was eventually given permission to serve as a nurse behind the lines during battle and was appointed as the “lady in charge” of the hospitals. Abraham Lincoln placed her in charge of searching for the missing soldiers from the Union Army. She is best known for establishing the Red Cross. Ronald Reagan was a republican who was elected the 40th president of the United States. He served during a period of constant increased tension between the United States and the Soviet Union, which was marked by an arms race and the threat of nuclear war. He is remembered most for ending the Cold War in peace, when the outcome could have been devastating. He also introduced political and economic reforms that sought to reduce regulations of businesses, reduce government spending and increase economic prosperity and growth through tax cuts. Republican Susan B. Anthony played an essential role in the women’s rights movement in the nineteenth century. It was her goal to introduce women’s suffrage into the United States, so that women could have the right to vote in elections. For forty five years she gave about a hundred speeches a year in Europe and the United States to promote her cause. Another of the influential republicans was Fredrick Douglass. He was a very intelligent mad that played a prominent role in civil rights during the 1800’s. He was an author, an orator, and a statesman. He is most well known for illustrating the tragic truth about slavery and bringing it to the attention of white Americans. Republicans have played and continue to play an essential role in American history and politics. Some of today’s celebrity republicans include Neil Armstrong, Clint Eastwood, Wayne Gretzky, Derek Jeter and Chuck Norris.
